Librarians Want to Know...

How to create an engaging blog.

(TEST run for SLIS 761)

As a media assistant in a school library I want to meet the needs of those I serve the best I can.  There are many ways to communicate with students, staff, parents, and colleagues such as email and website postings but I want to explore a new avenue, blogging.  As blogs have become more popular due to their creative and flexible style I want to experiment with one to better reach my relevant audience of young adult students. My students love their technology and the hottest trends. I think the ability to add images, links, and videos will grab their attention but of most importance to me are the commenting features which I am hoping will engage students in a more social environment to express opinions and exchange ideas.

So how do I create and engaging blog?  I am learning. I know the title must be catchy and it needs to be visual appealing.  But content is what will keep them coming back. What are your thoughts and ideas?
